What is Cuboid Syndrome?

Discomfort on the lateral side of the feet are definitely not commonplace, but when it can happen the frequent reason for this can be a problem identified as cuboid syndrome. The actual cuboid is really a smallish bone, about 50 % of the way down the lateral side of the feet. The actual job of the cuboid bone is always to be a pulley for that muscle/tendon complex that goes down the exterior of the rearfoot called the peroneus longus tendon. Because the bone provides a lever, this really needs to be extremely secure when the muscle acts, If it is not necessarily stable, then the bone will probably shift and stress the actual important joints surrounding it. This is exactly what leads to cuboid syndrome.
