Sentencing and Probation
Three out of four people serving a criminal sentence are currently on probation or parole. Statistics show that 76 percent of criminals were back on the streets in four years or less and 51 percent of them were freed from prison in two years or less. According to criminal defense attorneys in Los Angeles, early release of criminals is a way of saving money during a crippling economy. Their early release before their imposed sentence is done is found to be one of the factors of the increasing crime rate in America. Keeping them in prison keeps them off the streets and keeps them from influencing would-be criminals. If they are out in the streets they are out to commit another crime especially with the crippling economy we have.
