Up up and away
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010I have always had a fear of flying and have shirked away from the opportunity to get on a plane every time it has arisen. However recently I was in a position where I had to make a flight across Europe for work and by forgoing the opportunity I could have lost what is a good job. What came to my rescue was instrumental music as quite a surprise. It has never really been my cup of tea music without words and all those panpipes but when it came to sitting on that plane, shaking, sweating and ready to have some sort of fit it ended up making sure I took that flight! The elderly lady next to me gave me a poke in the side and simply asked ‘first time flying?’. ‘How can you tell I replied?’. With a smile she offered me use of her Ipod which I respectfully took. She was listening to some wonderfully mellow and dreamy instrumental music that really helped me to calm down and relax. Before I knew it we were in the air and I was a little embarrassed thinking to myself ‘is this it?’. Suffice to say I have my own Ipod now and can fly, when I need to, without my fear holding me back.
