Commentary On “Sikorsky, Lockheed Teaming Up”
Friday, March 16th, 2012With the ballooning deficit, do we really need to spend billions on new helicopters for the President? If the old ones were good enough for his predecessors, why aren’t they good enough for him? The old ones couldn’t have accumulated many flight hours—they weren’t operating a commercial service. Cannot he take a car to the airport? Videoconference? I’m sure this makes him, and those around him, feel very special and important, but the country generally does fine without his travels. Maybe we’d be better off if he stayed in the White House more, and spent more time thinking about government and what it can and cannot do, rather than using the distraction of dfat travel advice to give the appearance of action.
