Small Business Gets Big Boost From Local Investor

Helena Cunningham was a single mom. She had a little boy named Roger, who was six years old. She used to be rather well-off but since a department store opened right across her small convenience store, her business was slowly going downhill and she found herself quite deeply in debt. She didn’t want to apply for a grant for single moms because she simply didn’t have the time or the patience to complete the application process. She would rather devote her time to raising her kid and making sure her business didn’t go under. Fortunately, a local with a lot of money who wanted to preserve the integrity of the neighbourhood invested in her store, turning it from a humble mom and pop store to a neighbourhood deli and coffee shop that the locals loved to hang out in.
