Make a Winter Chowder
Once the weather starts to turn cold, maybe your thoughts like mine turn to warm soups and stews. How about a good fish chowder recipe? A chowder is kind of a mix between a soup and a stew, and you really don’t have to know a whole lot to make one. You can even start out with frozen fish fillets from your supermarket. Defrost the fish and cut it into chunks or bite sized pieces. Make a broth from a couple of cans of diced tomatoes and add water to fill the pot. Once it’s bubbling, season with salt, pepper, thyme, oregono, and whatever you like. Cut up a couple of potatoes into small pieces and they can cook for about 20 minutes along with some carrots or other veggies. After about 20 minutes, add the fish pieces and simmer another 10 minutes or so. It will make a great meal with some nice Italian bread.
