Corporate Secrets

The following is not exactly one of the best kept secrets, but it is information that is not widely known, and there are people who would prefer that you don’t know.Corporations are raiding pensions. Once the law allowed corporations to make virtually any prediction for the rates of return on their pension investments, they started guessing that they would do much better. It is unlikely that they will make the rates of return some have projected, but this projection allows them to put a lot less money into the funds (you don’t need as much if you guess you’ll get a 10% annual return as if you project 5%), and book more as profit. Of course, this means that many retirement funds will not have enough money in them when the workers need it.
