Kindle To Go Global
Amazon have confirmed that they intend to launch their kindle ebook reader internationally. At this time the device is available only in north America as the “whispernet” 3G technology which allows Amazon’s customers to have wireless, fee free download facilities is not currently available in other parts of the world. The announcement, made in February 2009, did not specify a timescale and did not specify a price. However, the Sony PRS ebook reader is currently available in the UK for less than £200 – the equivalent of $333 – not too far away from the Kindle 2′s current price of $359.
