The History of Christchurch and the Canterbury Museum
The museum with was built in 1867 is said to have over two million items in their collection all places in themed galleries. Among some of the things you could expect to see at the museum are fossils and displays of the local wildlife, the fashion history of New Zealand, information and artifacts from Antarctica’s and it’s explorers. It also has information about the native people of Churchchrist the Iwi Tawhito and Ngâ Taonga as well as the early European settlers. The Canterbury Museum also is known for helping people in tracking their genealogy. A service that is offered online as well.
